Ibarra, Brunner Lead Rattlers to Win


The heat seems to bring the out the best in the Rattlers, as they edged F.C. Hasental 3-2 on a warm evening at Palmdale High School.

Miguel Ibarra put on an offensive show, scoring all three goals for the Rattlers, getting the game winner in the 94th minutes. Keeper Zach Brunner entered the game in goal after starter Martin Ruiz went down with a knee injury just 33 minutes into the
game. F.C. Hasental pressed for multiple scoring opportunities in the final ten minutes of play, but Brunner came up big for his team making several big plays that ended up saving the day for the Rattlers.

Ibarra got his first goal in the 15th minute. Zach Brunner came in to replace Martin Ruiz in the net when Ruiz went down with a knee injury. Soon after that, Ibarra picked up his 2nd goal, and the Rattlers led 2-1 at the break.

In the 70th minute the Rattlers went down a man due to a red card, and the visitors took advantage by scoring the tying goal. But a few minutes later Hasental also lost a man due to cards.

Playing was 10v10 the rest of the way, and Brunner made a couple of great saves, appearing to preserve the 2-2 tie. But Ibarra got his third of the game in injury time, and the Rattlers walked off the field with a thrilling 3-2 victory.
