Rattlers Collect three points in 2-1 win over Real San Jose

Rattlers F.C. Press release- www.rattlersfc.com

May 14th, 2011-San Jose, CA;San Jose, CA; The Rattlers F.C Seem to have something of a “Northbound Curse”, as ever since their inaugural 2007 season they have had the misfortune of traveling to their northbound opponents short on players and short on luck. That is, until they get to their destination and step onto the field. In 2007 the Rattlers F.C. (Then The Lancaster Rattlers) traveled to San Francisco to
face the Seals, having their bus break down on them on the way twice, & where the back-up goalie played forward for the final 20 minutes of the game. The Rattlers fought hard and walked away with a 2-1 win. In 2008 the Rattlers traveled to Fresno with one sub and once again, the back-up keeper stepped onto the pitch at striker, with the Rattlers walking away with a 4-3 victory thanks to current starter, and new to the defense; Martin Galvan.
Later 2008 The Rattlers travelled to Bakersfield only to have their bus break down on them in Mojave. After enough people back tracked to get their cars, they came back for the rest of the team. The Rattlers arrived last minute to take the game once again. In 2009 The Rattlers were forced to squeeze thirteen players into a 12 passenger van and head twelve hours to Utah to face the Ogden Outlaws and the B.Y.U Cougars, arriving home with a win and a tie and 4 much needed points. Repeating that same thing in 2010 against
the same two Utah based teams returning with 4 points.
Well, 2011 should be no different, as the Rattlers F.C. (1-0-3) travelling North once again to face Real San Jose (1-0-6), leaving at 8:30pm Friday night with 14 players, arriving at 2am with kick off at
7pm the next night. The game started off pretty neutral with both teams getting plenty of chances early. Real San Jose was mostly pressuring from the outside getting a few nice crosses that were easily handled by The Rattler defense. Real San Jose did come close early one with a fumble just outside the six yard box. As the Real Midfielder struck a ball into the box from outside the 18 that deflected around and was once again picked up by Real San Jose and was fired far post, only to be deflected back out to midfield by charging Rattler ‘keeper Zach Brunner. After that however the Rattler F.C. team took control of the game, as it wasn’t long until Rattler Alex Harley drove a 40 yard ball across the entire 18 to a waiting Miguel Guillen who wasted no time and volleyed it into the opposite side netting, putting his team up by one before the half. The Rattlers did’t stop their attack hitting the post twice before the half closed 1-0.The second half opened up with San Jose sparked up from all the action in half one, not getting too many shots directly on target for the majority of the game, but receiving more than 15 throw ins and corner kicks in the second half alone. And it was off of a throw in from the left side of the goal that dropped in and skid off of the Real San Jose player’s head and in the net. The game bobbled back and forth with most of the action in the middle of the field for the majority of the second half. But late in the half Rattler midfielder Roberto Mariscal took a ball from the left from Mathayo Huma & as he brought the ball right he drove it low left into the side netting, leaving the Real ‘keeper stunned and standing only to watch as the Rattlers went up to 2-1. And once again folks! They came home victorious from the North 2-1.

Rattlers Edged by Winds, 2-1

The Santa Ana Winds blew through the Rattlers in a game played at Palmdale last week. The Winds made it a sweep by beating the Rattlers 2-1 in a game played in Santa Ana this past weekend.

After 45 minutes of play the score was even at 0-0. Then in the 55th minute the Rattlers Mathayo Huma scored his first goal of the season on a blast that left the Winds keeper standing helpless. Miguel Ibarra had the assist, hitting Huma with a beautiful pass after carrying the ball into the the offensive zone.

The Rattlers only had three minutes to enjoy their lead. The Winds tied it up in the 58th minute, beating keeper Zach Brunner at the near post. Then, just two minutes later the Wind scored what turned out to be the game winner.

The Rattlers defense held ground after that, with Brunner making 15
saves that kept the game with in reach. “Our keeper had a good game or it could have been 6-1″ said Rattlers head coach Jarrod Cline. “We played a lot better, but not great.” Cline went on to say “basically it comes down to hard work and practices. The talent is here now, they just need to work hard and be more consistent at practices and in the games.”

Next up: Rattlers will travel to San Jose to take on Real San Jose (1-0-5) on May 14th. The following weekend they will be in San Diego to take on the San Diego Boca on Saturday and the San Diego Flash on Tuesday. The Rattlers won’t return home until June 11th when they will take on the Sacramento Gold, last years NPSL National

Rattlers Win 1-0 and Lost 1-0

Fresno, California -Rattlers F.C. Completed their Pre-season games Saturday in Fresno, California. The Rattlers faced
two college teams, West Hills College out of Lemoore California and Fresno Pacific College. The Rattlers found
themselves on both ends of the results. Beating
West Hills 1-0 and lost to Fresno an hour later by the same
score. Both games where played at Fresno Pacific College
Two games back to back was tough on the newly
formed NPSL team but it was good because it gave Head
Coach Jarrod Cline the opportunity to see players
that where still trying to make the team. It also give Cline
the chance to see how some veterans would match up
with the newly signed players.

The Rattlers F.C. Faced West Hills College first at an
11:30 am game. The first twenty minutes of the game
saw a series of passes and a dominating possession by the Rattlers. A continuing combination of passes between
forwards Stephen Martines, Alex Harlley and Mathayo Huma kept West Hills chasing the Rattlers in their offensive zone.
The Rattlers midfield kept the West Hills team continuously giving up turnovers back to the Rattlers.
After twenty-five minutes of play a pass from Huma to Harlley, Harlley then moved around a West Hills Defender and
passed back to Huma then moved in position in front of the West Hills box and received the pass back from Huma and
fired a hard direct shot, at the keeper who quickly deflected it.
Ten minutes later The Rattlers were on another attack and had a shot from Roberto Mariscal who chest trapped a ball
from the air and got a shot off that again defected by the keeper. Mathayo Huma then got the ball and laid a quick
pass that found the feet of Forward Luis Bonuelos who came in off the bench in time to receive the pass from Huma and
fired it past a flat footed West Hills Keeper that put the Rattlers in front 1-0 and ended up the game winner. Rattlers
dominated the match with a 60% possession. 12 shots 7 on goal and between the post recording only 3 saves by Martin
Ruiz. While West Hills had 4 shots, 3 on goal scoring none.
One hour later the Rattlers F.C. took the filed again to face their host Fresno Pacific Sunbirds.
The fact that the same line up just finished a game before showed up right away as the Sunbirds came on quick and
fast against the fatigued Rattlers and just 11 minutes in to the game the Sunbirds caught the Rattlers defense pulling up
and slipped a ball through the defense and the Sunbird forward sprinted out passed the defender and quickly slid it
passed Martin Ruiz to take an early lead and what was the winning goal.

The game was played mainly in the middle of the field with almost equal possession for both teams with the Rattlers
having an the edge of possession, controlling the shots in the first half with 4 out of 5 shots on target but the Sunbirds
keeper also had four saves the first half.
The second half was not as controlling for the Rattlers with only 2 shots, keeping the Sunbirds to only one.
The Rattlers had their chases on all four on goal shots, just no luck to go with it. Martin Galvan almost had the equalizer
only to see it catch the edge of the post and bounce out.
The Rattlers wrap up the Pre-season with two wins and one loss. And now will prepare for opening day for the league
season April 23rd at Palmdale High School. They will face the F.C, Hasental at 5:00pm, gate opens at 4:00pm

Rattlers F.C. Win first Pre-Season Game

Rattlers open Pre-season with a win
Luis Bonuelos, Jesse Martin, and Mathayo Huma all score

Las Vegas, Nevada -Luis Bonuelos, Jesse Martin,Mathayo Huma all scored as the Rattlers F.C. opened their
Pre-season games with a
3-1 victory over Tyneside United F.C at the Betty Wilson Complex in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Saturday afternoon after a 4 hour trip to Las Vegas the team started out slow and disoriented. They looked like a bunch of players that got a pick up game together to play a well established team in Tyneside United. The first 45 minutes of the game really seemed slow, the players looked like they never played together, because they hadn't. The Rattlers F.C. had been together training for about two weeks and this exhibition game was their first together as a team.

There were plenty of chances for the home side in the opening 45 minutes, including a pass that ended up in the corner of the goalie box. Rattler keeper Zach Brunner came out to challenge the player, and as he did the player moved to the side of Brunner once Brunner committed, Tyneside slipped the first goal of the
game in to the net.

But that was it for Tyneside and the Rattlers kept pressure in the Tyneside zone and then in the 30th minute of play Luis Bonuelos one of the Rattlers new offense attacking forwards found himself in the box handling a series of passes that drew the Tyneside keeper out of the net to handle the ball and Bonuelos simply tapped the ball around the keeper to knot he score at one a piece before half time.

The second half was a complete turn around for the visiting Rattlers as they started to look like a team. Putting pressure on immediately, the Rattlers began an offensive attack as Alex Harlley had the ball in the corner of the home teams box, took his shot and it was blocked and returned right back to him. Harlley quickly gathered the ball
and passed it up to Stephen Martines who took a quick shot that again was blocked and bounced back to Martines. Martines who quickly retrieved it and sent it up top of the net but the keeper managed to push the ball over the top.
In the
50th minute of play Jesse Martin who was promoted from the Super 20 team of last year found himself sitting only 10 yards from goal. Martines had the ball at the point of the box covered with defenders, passed the ball to Jesse Martin who received it and kicked a roller that bounced off the leg of a Tyneside player and slowly
rolled in the net un-touched by the keeper. That put the Rattlers up by one and ended up being the game winner.

But Mathayo Huma wasn't done positioned 20 yards out in front of the net received a pass form Alex Harlley and fired a rocket passed the un expecting keeper and gave the Rattlers a two goal cushion.

Rattlers F.C. kept the pressure on Tyneside F.C. and they finally put together a couple of counter attacks that almost saved the game for them, but Rattlers keeper Martin Ruiz who was getting time in the second half came up big.
55 minutes of play had gone in the books when Mathayo Huma received a pass from Alex Harlley 25 yards out, Huma quickly took advanage of a perfect pass and fired a rocket to push the back of the net and give the Rattlers F.C. comfortable lead of 3-1

" Their playing a little slow and unsure of themselves and thats understandable since this is the first time they have ever played with each other, some never even seen each other before now." said Head Coach Jarrod Cline. They did well all things considered, "They got talent we just need to train them with each other so they can get to
know each other." I'm happy with the results, however we focused on improving our goal scoring that now we are top heavy and need to beef up the defense a bit" said Cline. They will now get ready for their second road trip to Fresno next weekend where they will play 2 competitive games. On Saturday the 9th the Rattlers will take on West Coast College at 11:30 am and then at 2:00 will battle with the Fresno Pacific Seabirds. Fans are welcome to come and support the players.
